Ljubljana is also known by its historical name EMONA, a first settlement that was formed on Ljubljana’s s grounds during antiquity around 50 AD, as a roman military camp.
Today Ljubljana is one of Europe’s greenest and most liveable capitals.
A City With A Green Soul
Ljubljana is filled with green parks and mighty tries. It was voted Green Capital of Europe 2016.

Project task
TGH-48 2.0
TGH-48 complex is one of the most unique garage buildings in Ljubljana, built by the design of one of the most influential Slovenian modernistic architects, Savin Sever in 1969.
It is located close to the city center and river Ljubljanica, with a number of expressive architectural works from various centuries.
While the garage served the function it intended at the time, the downsides of the design increased over time. The dense car compartments became too small for the average-sized car in the later years, giving the building a reputation for being useless and irrational.
Atelier Emona Workshops’ aim is to gather young architecture minds across the world to dive into the question of the future of TGH-48.
Our INTENTION is to propose a viable program and produce conceptual proposals for TGH-48 2.0, following the regulations of the municipality whilst respecting the historical meaning of the most famous garage in Slovenia.

Meet The Team behind Atelier Workshops
Atelier Workshops are organized by an architectural studio Atelier Abroad; for short AAb.
“We believe that architecture belongs to the people it serves. Our mission is to improve the lives of the individual and the community. Understanding the vast extent of architectural influence and the varieties of design through cultures, we are inspired to bring architects from different parts of the world to discuss the social problems of the cities the workshops are held at, to try and find different answers through a melting pot of cultural and continental thoughts.”

Lectureres
We will organize lectures by esteemed Slovenian architects, where we will learn the larger backstory and the history of the notorious TGH-48. We will discuss the influence of modern architecture and just how to best meet it with historical buildings.
Tutors
During the workshop, we will discuss the posed social architecture issue in the heart of Ljubljana, as presented in the Project Brief. You will be divided into groups and be guided and mentored through the development of your work.
Jury
Jury members will be represented by Tutor and Lecturer body. After one week you will present your thoughts on a Final Panel and select the winning group.
